An Internet domain is an identification string of a system called Domain Name System (or DNS) that defines the extent of autonomy, authority, or administrative control on the network i.e. the Internet.
A domain name consists of a label placed in a subtree of the Domain Name System structure. Labels are combined and separated by dots, which means that they look like this:
The size of the letters in DNS labels does not matter at all, which in fact means that domain names are usually written in lowercase.
What does domain consist of?
Internet domain always consists of two key parts: the first is the main name, and the second is the ending, in other words, the extension.
